Estuve en IMC junto a ustedes. Tomé apuntes de las sesiones de John Maxwell y los convertí en una herramienta bilingüe: la idea completa en inglés y en español, el vocabulario clave, y una pregunta para practicar. Al final de cada sesión encontrarán la traducción y algunas palabras que vale la pena guardar.
Sesión 1
At IMC 2026, Maxwell described the five values that shape his legacy: living a life attractive enough that people notice it, adding value to others every single day, developing leaders who go on to develop more leaders, measuring success by how the people closest to you feel about you rather than by public recognition, and growing consistently, day after day, without ever settling into an arrival mindset. He shared one line from the fifteen-point declaration he wrote for himself at fifty-five: 'I choose to be bigger on the inside than the outside.'
En IMC 2026, Maxwell describió los cinco valores que dan forma a su legado: vivir una vida lo suficientemente atractiva como para que las personas la noten, aportarle valor a otros todos los días, formar líderes que a su vez forman más líderes, medir el éxito por lo que sienten por ti las personas más cercanas y no por el reconocimiento público, y crecer de manera constante, día tras día, sin instalarse nunca en la sensación de haber llegado. Compartió una frase de la declaración de quince puntos que escribió para sí mismo a los cincuenta y cinco años: 'Elijo ser más grande por dentro que por fuera.'

Sesión 2
In a coaching session at IMC, Maxwell explained why mentorship is the fastest path to growth: being guided by someone who has already faced your next challenge helps you grow faster and go further than working alone ever could. The same session highlighted a pattern many bilingual professionals recognize: people get promoted for technical skill, then struggle to lead a team, afraid to admit they were never trained for it. Maxwell's advice was to focus improvement on high-leverage areas instead of spreading effort thin: communication, leadership, team building, attitude, and relationships. As he put it, 'I couldn't afford it, and I couldn't afford not to.'
En una sesión de coaching en IMC, Maxwell explicó por qué la mentoría es el camino más rápido hacia el crecimiento: dejarte guiar por alguien que ya enfrentó el reto que tienes por delante te ayuda a crecer más rápido y llegar más lejos de lo que lograrías solo. La misma sesión mostró un patrón que muchos profesionales bilingües reconocen: a alguien lo ascienden por su habilidad técnica y luego debe liderar un equipo, con miedo de admitir que nunca lo entrenaron para eso. El consejo de Maxwell fue enfocar la mejora en las áreas de mayor impacto en vez de dispersar el esfuerzo: comunicación, liderazgo, formación de equipos, actitud y relaciones. Como él mismo dijo: 'No podía costearlo, y no podía costear no hacerlo.'

Sesión 3
On Day 2 of IMC, Maxwell walked through the values that shape the coaching culture he has built for fifty years. Valuing people starts with how you see yourself: if you see yourself as valuable, you value others the same way. Pursuing growth means treating attitude as a choice, not an excuse, since a good attitude does not replace skill, but it does change how far that skill can take you. Leading by example works because people copy what they see far more than what they hear, which is why Maxwell insists that credible leadership always starts with leading yourself first.
En el día 2 de IMC, Maxwell repasó los valores que sostienen la cultura de coaching que ha construido durante cincuenta años. Valorar a las personas empieza por cómo te ves a ti mismo: si te consideras valioso, valorarás a los demás de la misma manera. Buscar el crecimiento significa tratar la actitud como una elección y no como una excusa, porque una buena actitud no reemplaza la habilidad, pero sí cambia hasta dónde te puede llevar esa habilidad. Liderar con el ejemplo funciona porque las personas copian lo que ven mucho más que lo que escuchan, por eso Maxwell insiste en que un liderazgo creíble siempre empieza por liderarte a ti mismo.
